Treeline to the Top

Hello Skiers,

Summit did not open today as I thought it might, but Alpine Bowl and Wolverine were groomed. We could see the groomed tracks from the top of Roundhouse. It was a beautiful blue bird day on the hill this morning. Dance floor was groomed but somewhat firm this morning. Off piste we found a variety snow from somewhat breakable crust to a thin layer of powder, and firm groomed to heavy deeper snow untouched from the day before. It was warm today. I think it must have reached 40 degrees or perhaps a little higher. This was causing snow, especially south facing slopes and lower elevation slopes to melt bringing spring conditions along with it. Something new did appear today. The second section of the new lift was open. We rode to the top which is just below the top of Sherwood and to the skiers left of Art’s Knob. Sherwood was not open, but a path was groomed to the return road allowing skiers to make a few turns before heading back to the Weasel side of the hill. However, myself included, and others tried a few turns in Expert Short Cut which offered a heavy consistency snow. Others were skiing Art’s Knob and the Sherwood Cliff area. Ridge Run was also groomed indicating that there may be enough snow to open Scott, at least on a limited basis.

Coming this weekend according to forecasters: 3 to 5 feet of new snow over the 7,000 foot elevation.

Enjoy your day,

Andy
