Hello Skiers and Boarders,
Wow! The sun was shining this morning. Of course it has not lasted into the afternoon, but it create some enjoyable runs this morning. A dusting fell overnight but not enough to fill a shovel. New terrain opened as lifts began to spin. Beaver and Estelle as well as High Traverse were opened this morning. We were lucky to have fresh tracks on both runs in Low Beaver with very little competition. The upper portion of Sun Bowl was wind packed making fresh turns a little challenging. However the lower portion of Big Bend Bowl was superb.
Groomed and skier packed runs were all soft and in beautiful winter condition. There were winds blowing at the ridge tops, but not enough to close lifts which helped spread the crowds out over the various runs.
Best run of the day was our tour down Field of Dreams which, as most of you know, is out of bounds.
It was a little like heli-skiing. Beautiful scenery, uncrowded slope, light snow in the trees and covering open slopes. Of course this run is not as long nor as exciting as those offered by the heli-ski trips, but it represents a snippet of a trip to me.
Attached are couple of photos taken this morning on the lower portion of Big Bend Bowl and a link to a video from today’s trip through Field of Dreams.
Enjoy your day,
Andy
