Just a Great Day

Hello Skiers and Boarders,

The day started with cold temperatures covering the mountain.  It seemed to be in the 7 to 9 degree range at the summit.  However, the sun was shining in all its glory and the sky was a brilliant blue.  Snow conditions are top notch with a few patches of light powder left and plenty of real winter skier packed powder all over the mountain.

My friends and I hit Seldom Slides, Peter’s Peril, D7 and Waterfall, Palisades, High Yellow among others enjoying the soft surface.

Attached is a photo I took this morning of an old sign noting the Shuttle Cornice Trail.  Do you know where this sign is located? Does anyone remember when it was installed?  It has obviously been hanging on this tree for a very long time.  Is it the oldest sign hanging in Alpine Meadows?  I know there are a couple of other old signs out there on the hill, but not many.

Enjoy your day,

Andy

  1. There was a very steep Poma lift there in the mid-60’s, I remember it well, the unloading was very difficult. The lift only lasted a year or 2. It was the access to Sherwood in its day. I suspect the sign showed up about the same time.
