Hello Skiers and Boarders,
Lots of wind overnight accompanied by heavy rain. The rain has turned to snow this afternoon. It is snowing down to the Truckee River and sticking to everything. It has been snow quite heavily. Squaw is closed with the exception of a couple of beginner carpets that seem to be operating. Alpine opened Hot Wheels and Meadow which surprises me. With the snow level dropping, perhaps the afternoon will afford someone a nice clean slate to carve up. Roundhouse and Yellow are still listed as on Wind Hold. Perhaps they will open this afternoon. Winds reached 138 miles per hour at the ridge top, but they seem to be dropping with the colder air that has set in to the area. It is currently about 25 degrees at the top of the mountain.
The forecast calls for dropping snow levels with heavy snow Friday morning lasting into the afternoon.
A short break and then more snow is coming for the weekend.
