Hello Skiers and Boarders,
We have a real snow storm going on this afternoon. It is snowing down to the Truckee River at a steady pace. It has not been really cold today. I can tell because my rear end was wet when I quit skiing this afternoon. Snow began dropping lightly around 9 this morning and has continued all day. It is increasing this afternoon. We received about 6 inches during the morning hours on the hill.
Skiing was excellent again today. Light to no wind with light to moderate falling snow. The longer we skied the better it got. Groomed runs were soft early in the morning with just an inch or two of new over a smooth surface. Off piste varied depending on the consistency of the surface underneath. North facing slopes were best and low angle offered that soft feeling we all like during the morning hours.
We had a ball in Gentian Gully where turning through the trees in new powder (basically all alone) brought smiles to our faces. This was too good to do just once. A couple of photos and a link to a short youtube video taken in Gentian are attached. Colleen McCarthy is the skier in the video and also shows up in the pictures along with Mark Fisher.
Enjoy your day,
Andy
