Hello Skiers and Boarders,
After watching water drop from the sky most of yesterday I was a little leery of heading up to the mountain this morning. We did receive snow overnight and clouds were moving on to the east, but the mixture of rain and snow followed by a night of temperatures in the 20’s, can lead breakable crust. However, following my rule #1 which is One never knows what the conditions will be unless one goes. Thus, I booted up and headed out at 9:00 a.m.. I found one of the best days of year. Bright sunshine made the visibility excellent.
A great ski partner who just happened to be on the first chair ride up Summit (Peggy Longo.) pushed me to ski off piste. It turned out to be a combination of 4 inch deep soft snow in most areas that was easy to ski and a little heavier snow with a bit of crust in other areas. Basically it was awesome on the hill today. We skied Tower 19, North Peril, Low Beaver, High Yellow, Sun Bowl on the backside, and Expert Short Cut. I was getting ready to quit for the day as Peggy leaving. I thought I would take one more ride up Summit. As I was getting on Summit Chair Debbie White skied up next to me and joined me for the ride up. Debbie is another strong skier who suggested we take a run or two together. Another High Traverse into Big Bend, a couple of D7’s, an untracked spin on Standard Run from Lakeview Chair and I was toast. It did feel great to be skiing the entire mountain with such good company.
Enjoy your day,
Andy
