Hello Skiers and Boarders,
Christmas Day was white with a few inches of new snow on the mountain. The morning hours had the upper mountain shrouded in clouds with visibility at the top almost non-existent. However the snow was better than I expected. Under the Alpine Bowl Chair we found a soft snow and even some untracked powder. There were a number of soft powder turns to be made in Scott Meadows and on Reily’s Run. We even found good snow in the trees at Sherwood. The snow in Expert Short Cut was heavy for some reason and not as pleasant as I hoped it would have been.
Today the sky cleared and bright sunshine flooded the area. Visibility was much better (obviously). We ventured over the High Traverse enjoying soft wind pack on the upper 2/3rds of Sun Bowl. The lower sections was lumping and not skied out enough to call it good skier pack. Much of the mountains was in good winter condition. I did not find any really firm slopes today.
The weather forecast appears to call for sunshine for next few days. We should have a nice Christmas/New Year week.
Enjoy your day,
Andy
