Hello Skiers and Boarders,
We are enjoying a fantastic clear sunny day on the slopes at Alpine Meadows. Most lifts on the mountain are open including Sherwood. The High Traverse opened this morning as well. We felt the need to tour the mountain a little and thus headed for Scott Chair first thing in the morning. I was not surprised by the conditions on the groomed runs (Bobby’s and Ridge). A very firm surface met the bases of our skis which was not really pleasant. Off piste you would have found breakable crust with the exception of one low angle slope we found that still held some soft snow from last weeks storm. A photo of our tracks is attached. Returning to the main portion of the ski area we skied a few runs of Roundhouse and Summit. I found the snow to be very nice winter pack. Sunspot, D7, Werner’s Schuss, and Charity offered soft moguls that I could maneuver slowly.
Groomed areas were a little more firm, but still pleasant.
