Snowing?

Hello Skiers and Boarders,

Sunday was no bargain for skiers.  Cold winds blew over the slopes.  We went to the movies.

However, it actually snowed last night and during the day today.  Light snow fell.  There was about 4 to 6 inches on the hill this morning.  Flat light on the upper mountain.  The best skiing was on the groomed slopes that had the new snow piled on top of the smooth surface.  Not many people showed up this morning, so there was no real rush to get in line.  I did get some nice turns in with snow rising as high as the top of my boots.  Under this nice white surface was a firm frozen mogul field waiting to toss a skier or boarder into the hinterland.  Ridge Run off Scott was groomed with new snow on top, but by the time I tried it the surface was shaved off and slick and firm or a pile of snow pushed aside by skis.  Werner’s Schuss and Charity were actually very nice.  I think Sunspot was good, but I could not see well enough in the flat light to fully appreciate the powder turns.  Yellow Trail was a challenge as the moguls were frozen, but it was untracked and there was new snow in the troughs.

At least it was snowing.  Other than that it was nothing to write home about today.

Enjoy your day,

Andy
