Hello Skiers and Boarders,
Today was one of the better days of the season. My back and neck ache and my legs are telling me it is a good thing we stopped before they turned to jello. We received about 9 inches of snow Thursday night. Winds were lighter and the air temperature colder than the previous storm earlier this week. Thus, the snow was lighter.
The good news is that more of the mountain is being skied. Coverage remains minimal in many locations, but it is just enough to tempt people to hike off into the distance. Many skiers and boarders have been hiking over Keyhole and either skiing Lower Saddle, High Yellow Face, or continuing to Expert Shortcut. Lakeview and Sherwood Lifts remain closed. Low Beaver opened today and was quickly filled with tracks. This opened up The Sisters and slopes above Kangaroo. I did not ski in those areas, but many rocks and bushes are still easily seen from Summit Chair.
We throughly enjoyed winter snow on the Scott Chair trails, but best of all were most of the main areas off Summit. Peril Ridge, Wolverine Bowl, D7, D8, all of Alpine Bowl over to the Palisades, and then lower High Yellow Face. Soft winter snow and skier pack prevailed today.
Werner’s Schuss was filled with small soft bumps that were fun to ski.
Enjoy your day
Andy
