Hello Skiers and Boarders,
Last night winds howled over the ridge tops gusting over 100 miles per hour. The winds began dropping as snow began falling around 3a.m.. Snow fell until about 7 this morning. It was a very short storm with cold temperatures. Temperatures were in the teens early in the morning and only rose into the 20’s during the day. We received about 4 or 5 inches of snow. However, this was enough to excite skiers, make for a beautiful morning with a the mountain showing off a fresh white coat, and allow us to consider today a powder day. It went fast and was not deep, but looking back at fresh tracks always makes me happy. There were icy patches here and there which became more prevalent as the day wore on, but soft snow was the delight of the day. Mid-day the sky was clear and the sun shining, but clouds have floated in overhead this afternoon. The little bit of snow we received was somewhat wind packed which helped cover a few more bushes as it was not blown off the mountain during the heavy overnight winds.
I found good turns in many places this morning. Wolverine, D8, Sunspot, Lower Palisades, and the upper Yellow Trail were delightful. The bottom of Yellow Trail where you meet up with Weasel is not well covered and tricky.
Enjoy your day,
Andy
