Hello Skiers and Boarders,
Bundle up for a few days. The air is cold in Tahoe. Winds were blowing as well this morning forcing Summit Chair to go on wind hold. Alpine Bowl Chair was operating which allowed us to reach the top of the mountain. Early hours saw clouds drifting quickly overhead from the east, but the sky cleared later in the morning. Snow guns were blasting on the lower runs making good use of the cold temperatures, but sending menacing crystals onto my goggles as I skied through them.
The good news is that the runouts to both Summit and Roundhouse from the bottom of Dance Floor and Werner’s Schuss (Blue Trail for the old folks) is now white (instead of the brown color seen last week). Snow covers the ground between the lodge and the base lifts areas.
I skied a few runs on ABC. The groomed area was a little firm, but I found off piste to be delightful winter snow. Below Roundhouse conditions were good winter pack with few rocks on the main runs. Best of all was the lack of people. There was a very light crowd today leaving the slopes uncrowded.
Enjoy your day,
Andy
