Summit and Roundhouse!

Hello Skiers and Boarders,

It was a beautiful morning for Alpine to open Roundhouse and Summit Chairs. Clear blue sky overhead greeted a reasonable number of people who were waiting in line at the base of Summit Chair at 9a.m.. Temperatures overnight were below freezing, but they have inched up over 40 degrees this afternoon.

The upper mountain looks good. Most runs are pretty well covered above Roundhouse Chair. Although there were tracks in the fresh snow from previous days when employees must have made a few runs, we found clean lines for awhile. Sunspot got better as the sun softened the top surface. We took one trip into Wolverine Bowl coming down under Idiot’s Delight which was not all that great. The snow had set up a little, but still offered us some untracked space. Alpine Bowl was groomed with a good winter surface. Off piste just north of the Alpine Bowl Chair I found some real soft winter snow that brought a smile to my lips.

Below the top of Roundhouse it is a little more tricky. Dance Floor is groomed, but a little rough and firm as it is mostly manmade on the surface. At the bottom run out more snow is needed even though you can ski back to the base of the lift (the existing snow is brownish).

Watch for sticks and rocks that are poking out or just below the surface.

All in all I thought it was pretty darn nice on the hill this morning. Photo of Sunspot attached.

Enjoy your day,
