Pleasant Day at Squaw

Hello Skiers and Boarders,

It was cool this morning.  Temperatures dipped below freezing.  Snow guns blasted away overnight. The base of Alpine remains thin with some dirty spots around the lodge and on-ramps of Summit.  However, the upper mountain looks ready for skiers, even the lower area appears ready to be skied.  I noted many fresh tracks on the runs below Roundhouse.  Employees must have add some fun.

Today was a day to give Squaw a try.  I hit the hill about 11:30 and enjoy a morning with Bob L on Siberia.  We made a number of runs through the main bowl where small moguls dotted the slope before heading over to North Bowl via the Reverse Traverse.  Conditions were mid winter with a cold pack of snow.  There were areas where the new snow from a couple of days ago had been shaved off leaving a firm surface, but it all held an edge.  A couple of easy runs off the Gold Coast Lift that had been groomed topped off my short, but pleasant, mid-morning ski.

There were skiers and boarders on the slope, but not enough to create a line or overcrowd the slopes.

There is a rumor that Summit will open in the next day or two.  Especially if the temperatures remain cool at night. Editor’s note: Summit and Roundhouse will both be opening tomorrow.

Enjoy your day,

Andy
