Hello Skiers and Riders,
It seems like a waste closing the lifts at Alpine Meadows for the midweek period, and rather sad, since there are over 200 inches remaining on the mountain. Today was a blue bird day with light winds and a small crowd. I thought the skiing was very good. Early runs on the groomed were soft and smooth. As various off piste aspects softened they seemed to get better and better. I really enjoyed the corn surface on South Face and Power Line as well as the main groomed runs accessed by the Sherwood Chair. Sun Bowl and Big Bend offered smooth corn as well, but your had to wander around a little to find slopes devoid of skier tracks from the day before. A little later in the morning Bobby’s Run was just about perfect. I hiked up to the top of Lakeview Chair which has closed for the season and etched a few turns on Outer Limits which was perfect inch deep corn.
I think it was rather amazing to see how long the snow lasted before becoming sticky and mushy. A photos of the High T is attached. I am also attaching a couple of photos of the Truckee River at River Ranch where it is currently raging.
Enjoy your day,
Andy
