Fresh Palette

Hello Skiers and Riders,

It was a beautiful morning in the Sierra today. Sunny blue skies overhead and a fresh palette for powder hungry skiers and boarders. We received about 9 inches of snow yesterday.

The snow was condensed, as it was wind whipped and wet as it fell yesterday. South facing slopes were sun affected soon enough, but offered many good turns first thing in the morning. North facing slopes remained soft, but not mushy into the early afternoon. D7, North Peril, Palisades, and High Yellow were made up of cut up soft powder. We were lucky enough to hit Gentian Gully before it was completely tracked out. A couple of photos are attached of us making turns in unblemished snow through the trees below Broccoli Tree. We also enjoyed fresh tracks on Gunner’s Knob and Yellow Trail earlier in the morning. All lifts were open today which made the lines reasonable even though the parking lots were full.

Open Slope and High Yellow Face were smooth from the wet slides that broke off early this morning during avalanche control. Wet snow fell later in the afternoon.

Enjoy your day,

Andy
