Roundhouse Opened Late after Early Winds

Hello Skiers and Riders,

It was another very windy day with snow flying in a shower-like pattern. Heavy snow, light snow, and sunshine all in one day. Evidently it was too windy to run most lifts at Alpine today. Roundhouse did open in the afternoon. I went out for a quick test of the snow at 2:30 along with a handful of patrons that were at the ski area.

There was a new layer of wet snow on the mountain. It appeared to me to be less than 6 inches. However, it was not difficult to ski or ride as the depth was minimal. Low angle trails were best. Areas with trees in them allowed for better visibility and a less wind swept surface. God’s Knob which receives plenty of wind on its south facing slope was pretty firm. There were plenty of slopes to ski with few if any tracks on them because of the lack of participants.

It has stopped snowing at the moment with roads mostly clear, but wet.

Enjoy your day,

Andy
