SOFT POWDER

Today the powder was… POWDER.  The kind that’s not heavy from a warm storm, but still just enough that it didn’t blow away, so overall conditions were excellent, at least considering what (didn’t) fell in December.  Some of the most commonly skied lines did get scraped off to ice, but it was easy enough to find really soft lines….

Real Powder Snow

Hello Skiers and Boarders, What a difference a day makes.  Yesterday it was gloomy, wet, drizzling and it looked like the end of the ski season.  Sometime in the early morning hours the air cooled and snow fell from the sky.  Something like 10 inches of beautiful white snow piled up on the surface of…

Hello Skiers and Boarders, Warm air created spring conditions late this morning.  By 11 O’clock slopes facing the sun sported a soft top layer that skied very nicely.  Below Tower 19 to the west of Sunspot and Terry’s Return had a soft corn-like surface.  Lower groomed runs such as Dance Floor had a deeper spring…

Gloomy on the Hill Today

Hello Skiers and Boarders, It snowed a wet thick 3 inches above Roundhouse at some point last night.  This was not the powder you were dreaming of, but a difficult layer of goo that did not bring a smile to anyone’s face.  More than likely it brought pain to the knees.  Below the top of…

Morning Corduroy

Hello Skiers and Boarders, Sunny days with temperatures in the 40’s continue in Tahoe.  We have been experiencing an inversion which means the temperatures on top of the mountain have been too warm for snow making, but the lower one travels the lower the temperatures.  However, the surface conditions have remain just about the same…
